Shannon Russell

Shannon Russell has been our missionary to Thailand since the tsunami of 2004. His ministry, “The Eastern Project”, has been involved in several aspects of ministry over the past several months.

Through one of the missions working with the Galilee House (Shannon's vision), approximately 200 children who were orphaned by the tsunami have found permanent homes. Another 400 children have been taken in by various orphanages to assure they are being care for. Recently, The Eastern Project was able to help by providing new coats for these children.

The Eastern Project is also helping to send Bibles into China, and Shannon has been on several mission trips to China, Laos, and the surrounding areas to carry the Bibles to the underground churches there.

Shannon is also working with other mission groups around the Burmese border with the Karen refugees. He has helped to build several churches in these areas. The missionaries to these refugees not only lead them to salvation, but also establish local Bible schools to help teach the Gospel to the new converts. The goal is to provide the tools they need to become mature disciples who can be sent out to minister to their people.

This work is being financed through a printing business owned and operated by one of the missionaries. Shannon is helping to establish a website for the printing business and is helping to bring in more business to help finance this effort. They hope to have this website online within weeks.
